Carlos and Arista Records
CARLOS resigned with Arista with a long-term, multi-album exclusive contract after the biggest year in his career. Antonio ‘LA’ Reid and Strauss Zelnick joined Carlos for the official signing which took place in San Rafael at the Santana Management offices on June 28, 2000.
Arista Records, owned by BMG Entertainment, has consistently led the industry on an annual basis with the highest percentage success ratio of record releases to both chart hits and RIAA certifications. To date, the label has received a total of 725 gold, platinum and multi-platinum album and single certifications.
BMG Entertainment is the $4.7 billion worldwide entertainment division of Bertelsmann AG, one of the world’s leading media companies. In addition to Arista, BMG owns more than 200 record labels in 54 countries. BMG also owns the world’s largest music club, one of the world’s largest music publishing companies, and one of the world’s leading compact disc and cassette manufacturing companies.
After nearly a year of speculation, BMG Entertainment and music industry giant Clive Davis have entered into a 50/50 joint agreement to form J Records.
Carlos and Clive both hope to have an opportunity to collaborate on Carlos’ next release due out by Christmas 2001.
