Deborah & Carlos Honored at Annual Tequio Awards
Beverly Hills, CA — On Wednesday, March 1, 2006, CRLA awarded Carlos and Deborah Santana for their work with the Milagro Foundation at CRLA’s 3rd Annual Teguio Awards.
The Milagro Foundation was started in 1998 by Deborah and Carlos Santana to benefit underrepresented and underprivileged children around the world. Milagro, which means “miracle,” serves children in the areas of health, education and the arts. With funds generated by concert tickets donations, and generous individual and corporate donors, the foundation provides grants to grassroots, community-based tax exempt organizations that work with children and youth all over the world.
Celebrating their 40th Anniversary, CRLA is a statewide, non-profit legal services and social justice organization dedicated to correcting the inequities of laws impacting thousands of rural low income and farmworker residents in California. CRLA has provided free legal services to thousands of low income Californians and has been a powerful voice in the courtrooms, in the classrooms, in the fields and in California’s legislative halls. Through its advocacy, CRLA seeks to empower, bring hope, confidence and justice to thousands of California’s rural poor.
