Santana

Hollywood Walk of Fame

Carlos received a star on Hollywood Boulevard on August 17th. This was a public ceremony attended by many loyal fans, Carlos’ family, the entire Santana Management staff and the media.

The festivities began at 11:30 A.M. when the Honorary Mayor of Hollywood, Johnny Grant, was joined by Edward James Olmos, Luis Valdez and Arista Records President, Clive Davis for the presentation. There was also a commendation from the Los Angeles City Council and a proclamation of “Carlos Santana Day”, in Hollywood. As always Carlos took this opportunity to use the occasion to address a bigger issue, keeping kids in school through the Hispanic Media & Education Group’s, Cada Cabeza Es Un Mundo/Each Mind is a World program.

Carlos received the unanimous support of the selection committee based on his professional achievements and his contributions to the community. When Carlos finally took the podium he immediately dedicated the day to his father, José Santana, his family and to heroes like UFW leader, Dolores Huerta, who also attended. Carlos then identified women as the key to our future and called upon women to become stronger and take charge in guiding their lives, the lives of their families and their communites. The ‘Star’ is located at: 7080 Hollywood Blvd. (at LaBrea).
